Cardinals Match Report (Better than Dubs)

Words cannot express my sheer and utter disappointment at logging on to the cardinal’s website, only to see that Dub has stolen my thunder by publishing a match report. I’m therefore going to exploit my journalistic power and use this medium to mock.

On a scorching hot day where cricket whites would have been more appropriate attire then footy shorts, the cardinals were raring to go.

The mighty Richmond Central  Cardinals began the 2010 season with a solid 98 point win over Kew at Victoria park yesterday in which was a very positive sign of things to come.  With a fully fit side and a solid hit out against former club Old Scotch the week before there were high spirits in the Cardinals change rooms before the start of the match.

Training this Wednesday

G’day All,

Just a reminder for training on Wednesday at Kevin Bartlett Reserve (Mel 59 B1) at 6.30pm.  Please be aware that you can now wear either boots or runners, your choice.

Great work on Saturday in the practice match.  Let’s take that into this Saturday, Round 1 v Kew.  After the game let’s all make an effort to head back to Kevin Bartlett Reserve watch the seniors and support our new club.  There is also a club function on after the seniors game (see attached).

Good hit out at Saturday’s practise match against Old Scotch Superrules

It was a good hit out against our old club on Saturday with the mighty cardinals coming home with a good win. More importantly we played well with good run and carry from our backline and mid field. There was only one notable injury with Starkie rolling his ankle in the first 5 minutes of the game.

The game was played over 6 15 min quarters and everyone got a good run. Pizzy and Sedric Dufour started well in the centre giving the forwards plenty of ball and the new faces in Coops, Charlie and the big Queenslander Dayne did well in their first games.

We had a BBQ at the end of the game and raised some money to help subsidise our jumpers and shorts. Thanks to Sandy and crew for making that happen.

It was a good win and a fun day and there were plenty of good signs heading into the season proper which starts next week.
